(Sheepdog Self-Protection) Excels at a few things. First, at pushing physical exertion to the same level experienced on the test which was critical for myself. Second, at giving tips and extra practice with the dreaded push/pull machine. Finally, all workouts were tailored for the individual and incorporated movements that were similar to those required during the test. I took part in the POPAT as well as had personal training sessions with Francois. I found the training sessions to be an awesome “wake up call” that the type of workouts I was doing would not get me to my goal. Francois helped me get out of my comfort zone and really pushed me to limits that I otherwise wouldn’t reach if I was working out alone. Francois also was great in helping me mentally prepare for the POPAT, which I really appreciated. I don’t think you guys could do much different as you’re already killing it! I have recently begun training with Sheep Dog Self Protection to prepare to take the POPAT. Through the 1 on 1 sessions I have done so far, I have learnt a lot about technique, proper training for the POPAT, and tips and tricks about the test. Actually getting to use the push pull machine and practice with it has been a huge help. After only two 1 on 1 sessions, my confidence has gone up, I am seeing improvements, and the push pull machine does not seem daunting like it used to. I am excited to continue my training and am confident that because of it I will pass my POPAT in January.- Erin
I really liked how Kris pushed you during the workout and cheered you on. It made the 1 on 1 fun and you wanted to push yourself to do better. Kris really tryed to make it like the SOPAT during the workout, so you could get an idea. The 1 on 1 training helped be prepare for the SOPAT. It gave me an idea of what I needed to do for each step during the test to pass. I left confident that I would pass and I did pass.- Kevin
I liked that Frank knew how to build my confidence back up to believing I could pass. I came to Sheepdog after having recovered from a traumatic injury and needed a confidence builder. I also liked that Frank pushed me hard enough to force adaptation very quickly but knew exactly how far to push so I could believe I could keep going. I have not passed yet but it took me essentially from the couch to within reach of acceptable time in just 5 weeks. I know I will pass. It’s only a matter of time.- Jessica
I would like to say that the personal training was in my opinion delivered very well. During the sessions it was obvious that there was a genuine effort by Sheepdog Self-Protection to push me physically and mentally to be successful in the POPAT. I would like to say that Frank did a fantastic job working with me as he provided great advice on overcoming mental and physical obstacles. Frank also helped me develop exercise routines to do between sessions, which definitely helped me succeed in the POPAT. — Lukasz

I have been very happy with the training received. From a personal trainer perspective it is bang on. The tips and demos are there when needed and are very detailed, which is setting you up for success. The explanation of the test and what is needed are super helpful. The workouts have always been something different and challenging, which is what I love most (the way I always taught as well). Always pushed further then last time. Tips after each session have been given to work out to aid for future training. Definitely recommended to others. — Jen
I have registered for the POPAT three times with sheepdog and have passed every time with an increasing competitive test time. Both Kris and Francois have been very helpful with helping me build the confidence to increase my fitness and endurance. I registered for three one on one popat sessions and that made all the difference. They helped me focus on certain aspects of the course that I struggled with. After my one on one sessions I noticed a huge improvement in my training and fitness, which resulted in receiving a very competitive test time. In addition to the training I received, the facility and environment where the popat test is conducted is a very professional yet comfortable setting which took some pressure off!
